Match the Address and Communication Settings

The receiving controller, gateway or acquisition device must support the transmitter's communication protocol and data format.

  1. Confirm the device address. Follow the FG7485 communication instructions for the address and its setting method.
  2. Match the serial settings. The default baud rate is 9600 bps. Check the remaining serial settings against the supplied documentation.
  3. Configure data reading. Use the specified read commands and interpretation of the temperature and humidity values in the receiving system.

Connecting multiple transmitters? Assign distinct device addresses on the same bus and follow the system wiring requirements. Share your host or gateway model if you need help checking the communication match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about RS485 compatibility, model selection, measurement accuracy and installation.

Can FG7485 connect to my controller or gateway?

It can connect to receiving equipment with a compatible RS485 interface and communication protocol. The host must also support the transmitter's serial settings and instructions for reading and interpreting the data.

Share the controller, communication module or gateway model if you need help checking the match. Wiring and available communication information can be provided for review.

How does FG7485 differ from the other FG models?

FG7485 combines RS485 communication with an aluminum junction box. FG6485 also uses RS485, with a compact probe-style body and attached cable.

In the junction-box series, FG7010 provides analog voltage outputs, while FG7020 provides 4–20mA current outputs. Compare the interface, supply requirements and installation dimensions when selecting.

Can I connect multiple transmitters to the same RS485 bus?

Multiple compatible devices can share an RS485 bus when the system is configured appropriately. Assign distinct device addresses and configure the host to request readings from the corresponding address.

The default baud rate is 9600 bps. Confirm the address-setting method, remaining serial settings and bus wiring against the FG7485 communication instructions and receiving equipment documentation.

What does the ±0.3°C temperature accuracy apply to?

The ±0.3°C accuracy is specified at 25°C. It should not be interpreted as the same accuracy across the entire −40 to 120°C measuring range.

Typical temperature error near the range extremes is ±0.5°C. Include your expected operating temperatures and accuracy requirements when checking suitability.

Can FG7485 measure water or other liquids?

FG7485 measures air temperature and relative humidity. Position the sensing end in the air being measured; do not immerse the probe in water or other liquids.

Describe any condensation, direct spray, dust or unusual air composition so we can check suitability for the proposed location.

How is this configuration installed and powered?

This page shows the flange-mounted configuration, powered by a 12–36V DC supply. Check the probe insertion space, duct opening and flange position against the dimensional drawing.

Leave clearance around the junction box for the cover and cable routing. Follow the wiring diagram for the supply and RS485 connections.
