02 / Device Address & Host Settings

Configure the Address Before Reading Data

Use the address-setting instructions for the DIP switch positions. Match the host's communication configuration to the transmitter.

  1. Set the device address. Follow the supplied switch diagram. Devices sharing the same bus need distinct addresses.
  2. Match the communication settings. The default baud rate is 9600 bps. Confirm the remaining serial settings against the communication instructions.
  3. Configure data reading. Use the specified protocol, read commands and data interpretation for this model in the receiving controller or gateway.

Duct Air Measurement

HVAC & Ventilation Ducts

Position the probe inside the duct to measure air temperature and relative humidity. Choose a location with representative airflow and check the probe insertion depth and flange mounting space before installation.

Equipment Integration

Air Handling & Ventilation Equipment

Supply temperature and humidity readings to a compatible equipment controller through RS485. Confirm the controller supports the transmitter's communication protocol and data format, then match the address and serial settings.

RS485 Data Acquisition

Controllers, Gateways & Host Systems

Integrate air measurements into a compatible receiving system. For multiple transmitters on the same bus, assign distinct device addresses and follow the connection diagram. Displaying or storing readings depends on the receiving equipment and its software.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about RS485 integration, device addresses, communication settings and probe installation.

Can FG6485 connect to my PLC, controller or gateway?

It can connect to receiving equipment with a compatible RS485 interface and communication protocol. An RS485 port alone does not guarantee that the host can interpret the transmitter's data.

Share the exact controller, communication module or gateway model so we can help check the protocol, serial settings and data-reading requirements.

How does FG6485 differ from FG6010 and FG6020?

FG6485 communicates temperature and humidity readings through RS485. FG6010 provides analog voltage outputs, while FG6020 provides 4–20mA current outputs.

Choose the interface that matches your receiving equipment, then check the power supply, wiring and configuration requirements.

How do I set the address for multiple transmitters?

Follow the DIP switch instructions in the wiring and address-setting section . Transmitters sharing the same bus need distinct device addresses, and the host must use the corresponding address when requesting each device's readings.

These switches configure the device address. Refer to the supplied diagram for the required switch positions.

What communication information do I need for setup?

Check the device address, baud rate, serial format, communication protocol and instructions for reading and interpreting the temperature and humidity data. The default baud rate is 9600 bps.

Request the communication instructions when checking compatibility or placing your order. We can confirm product-specific details with the supplier.

Can FG6485 measure water or other liquids?

FG6485 measures air temperature and relative humidity. Expose the sensing end to the air being measured; do not immerse the probe in water or other liquids.

Describe any condensation, direct spray or unusual air conditions so we can check suitability before you order.

How is this configuration installed and powered?

This page shows the flange-mounted configuration, powered by a 12–36V DC supply. Check the probe dimensions, duct opening, insertion position and available flange mounting space.

Plan the power and communication cable routes, then follow the transmitter and receiving equipment diagrams for the connections.
